Flimby Primary School – Year 1 visit Millom Discovery Centre

Flimby Primary School – Year 1 visited the Millom Discovery Centre last week, this was the children’s first trip to the area, and for many their first time on a train.

The Schools Coordinator Sarah Cameron provided a presentation on the history of rail, managing to adapt the content to suit this younger age group. 20 excited children spent the best part of 2 hours observing the model railway located in the Rail Room, visiting heritage exhibits in the station street and even found time to draw pictures of their journey and dress up. It was wonderful to see the smiling faces of the children, some of whom would not normally have access to these opportunities.

Flimby Primary School plan to send different year groups on this trip over the coming months with the support of Northern Rail.
