All aboard the train at Braystones

Station adopters Skills 4 You based in Cleator Moor provide a safe environment for individuals to actively engage in a workshop setting. They support individuals who are returning to the labour market or those who are taking their first steps towards employment. They offer practical skills development with a choice of activities and address employment needs.

Skills 4 You took on the adoption of Braystones/ Nethertown railway stations back in 2019. The Covid situation delayed some of their initial aspirations but a great deal of work has been taking place in the background on a number of ambitious projects that will transform these sometimes-forgotten railway stations into much more vibrant and welcoming places.

Staff and learners from Skills 4 You have been working tirelessly on a wonderful wooden train with carriage and hand painted bespoke flowers/ planters that will bring a new focus to Braystones railway station.

We are delighted to announce that these were finally installed on the 21 September with the staff from Skills 4 You, Jane Murray (Northern – Station Manager) and Warren Birch (Community Rail Partnership Officer) all present at the launch.

Rail passengers will now see a railway station that has been brought back to life.
