This coming weekend Saturday 23rd to Monday 25th May there will be a number of engineering possessions on the Rail Network in the North West which will affect Northern services in the following locations:
- West Coast Mainline (Preston to Euxton/Wigan)
- Cumbrian Coast route (Carlisle to Whitehaven)
- South Manchester (Manchester to Buxton/Stoke-on-Trent/Crewe via Stockport/Chester via Altrincham)
In line with the current government guidance I would like to remind that rail travel is currently available for key workers and essential travel only.
Detailed changes are as follows for the individual days:
Saturday 23rd May
The standard Northern Monday-Saturday Key Worker Emergency Timetable will be in operation
Sunday 24th May
The standard Northern Sunday Key Worker Emergency Timetable will be in operation with the following changes:
- The Manchester Airport-Blackpool North and Manchester Victoria-Blackpool North service groups will not be in operation

- Trains will operate Buckshaw Parkway-Manchester Victoria
- A Rail Replacement Bus Service will be in operation Blackpool North-Preston and Preston-Buckshaw Parkway

- The Manchester Airport-Barrow-in-Furness/Windermere service group will not be in operation

- Trains will operate Lancaster-Barrow-in-Furness
- Rail Replacement Bus Services will be in operation Lancaster-Windermere, Preston-Lancaster and Wigan North Western-Preston

- The Blackpool South-Preston, Blackpool North-Leeds and Preston-Colne service groups will not be in operation

- Trains will operate Blackburn-Leeds, Blackburn-Colne, Blackpool South-Kirkham & Wesham
- Rail Replacement Bus Services will be in operation Kirkham & Wesham-Preston and Preston-Blackburn

- The Barrow-in-Furness-Carlisle service group will not be in operation

- Trains will operate Barrow-Whitehaven
- A Rail Replacement Bus Service will be in operation Whitehaven-Carlisle

- The Manchester Piccadilly-Buxton, Manchester Piccadilly-Stoke-on-Trent, Manchester Piccadilly-Crewe via Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly-Chester via Altrincham service groups will not be in operation until approximately 15:45 after which train services will resume

- Trains will operate Hazel Grove-Buxton
- A Rail Replacement Bus Service will be in operation Manchester Piccadilly-Hazel Grove, Piccadilly-Stoke-on-Trent, Piccadilly-Wilmslow and Piccadilly-Chester via Altrincham. All buses run via Stockport
