Easter Train Services updates

Northern has reported that over the Easter weekend there will be a number of engineering possessions on the Rail Network which will affect Northern services in the following locations:

• West Coast Mainline (Preston to Euxton/Wigan)
• Liverpool City Region (Services to/from Liverpool Lime Street)

In line with the current government guidance,  it is important to remember that  rail travel is currently available for key workers and essential travel only.

Northern will be working with British Transport Police, Travel Safe Officers and its Revenue Team to conduct enhanced patrols and engagement. This is already taking place and will continue to do so over the course of the weekend.

Detailed changes are as follow for the individual days:

Friday 10th April (Good Friday)
The standard Northern Monday-Saturday Emergency Timetable will be in operation

Saturday 11th April
The standard Northern Monday-Saturday Emergency Timetable will be in operation with the following changes:

– The Preston-Manchester Victoria and Blackpool North-Hazel Grove service groups will not be in operation
 Trains will operate Blackpool North-Preston and Buckshaw Parkway-Hazel Grove
 A Rail Replacement Bus Service will be in operation Preston-Buckshaw Parkway

– The Manchester Airport-Barrow-in-Furness/Windermere service group will not be in operation
 Trains will operate Preston-Barrow-in-Furness
 Rail Replacement Bus Services will be in operation Lancaster-Windermere and Preston-Wigan North Western

Sunday 12th April (Easter Sunday)
The standard Northern Sunday Emergency Timetable will be in operation with the following changes:

– The Manchester Airport-Blackpool North service group will not be in operation
 Trains will operate Blackpool North-Preston and Buckshaw Parkway-Manchester Victoria
 A Rail Replacement Bus Service will be in operation Preston-Buckshaw Parkway

– The Manchester Airport-Barrow-in-Furness/Windermere service group will not be in operation
 Rail Replacement Bus Services will be in operation Preston-Barrow-in-Furness, Lancaster-Windermere and Preston-Wigan North Western

– The Liverpool Lime St-Manchester Airport via Newton-le-Willows service group will not be in operation
 Trains will operate Manchester Oxford Road-Manchester Airport
 A Rail Replacement Bus Service will be in operation Liverpool Lime St-Manchester via Newton-le-Willows

– The Liverpool Lime St-Manchester Oxford Road via Warrington Central service group will not be in operation
 Trains will operate Warrington Central-Manchester Oxford Road
 A Rail Replacement Bus Service will be in operation Liverpool Lime St-Warrington Central

– The Liverpool Lime St-Wigan North Western service group will not be in operation
 A Rail Replacement Bus Service will be in operation Liverpool Lime St-Wigan North Western

Monday 13th April (Bank Holiday Easter Monday)
The standard Northern Monday-Saturday Emergency Timetable will be in operation with the following changes:

– The Preston-Manchester Victoria and Blackpool North-Hazel Grove service groups will not be in operation
 Trains will operate Blackpool North-Preston and Buckshaw Parkway-Hazel Grove
 A Rail Replacement Bus Service will be in operation Preston-Buckshaw Parkway

– The Manchester Airport-Barrow-in-Furness/Windermere service group will not be in operation
 Trains will operate Preston-Barrow-in-Furness
 Rail Replacement Bus Services will be in operation Lancaster-Windermere and Preston-Wigan North Western

– The Liverpool Lime St-Manchester Oxford Road via Warrington Central service group will not be in operation
 Trains will operate Warrington Central-Manchester Oxford Road
 A Rail Replacement Bus Service will be in operation Liverpool Lime St-Warrington Central

The timetable for Barrow-in-Furness-Whitehaven is currently in the process of being finalised due to urgent repairs needing to be undertaken to Eskmeals Viaduct as a result of damage earlier this week.
