The transformation of Maryport railway station continues to develop around the Roman theme of the station ‘The Edge of Empire’. Following the installation of the superb storyboards on the station platform, Community Rail Cumbria, together with local volunteer group “The Maryporters” who have adopted the station, have now put the icing on the cake! 8 fantastic flower planters have been set up along the approach to the station and filled with a variety of Roman themed colourful plants, including bronzes and golds, and traditional herbs. Everyone rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in to the hard work with enthusiasm but with laughs and jokes along the way. We were finished by 1:00pm and my goodness what a transformation! So well done and thanks to everyone who took part on what was a wonderful day. Big thanks also to Moota Garden Centre for their willing advice and for their wonderful plants.
