Safer Travel Campaign

Transport operators and staff have been working hard to ensure that people who need to get to work are able to do so, including crucial NHS workers and all those on the frontline of the fight against the virus.

The Department for Transport has issued guidance setting out that if people cannot work from home and have to travel for work, they should first consider cycling, walking or driving to ensure there is enough capacity for those who heed to travel on public transport to do so safely.

For those who have no alternative to public transport, it is vital they understand the steps they can take to maintain their own safety and that of others and help reduced demand on the transport networks.

Guidance has also been issued to help transport operators provide safe workplaces and services for their staff and passengers across all modes of private and public transport in England and your support is vital in ensuring customers, colleagues and members have the information they need to stay safe.
