During the spring months of this year, both the Workington Heritage Group and staff at Northern by Arriva have done a great job transforming Workington Station back to its original heritage colours, this has been with the assistance of funding from Community Rail Cumbria and Northern by Arriva.

In addition, they have also produced some wonderful floral displays that have recently been judged by the Cumbria in Bloom committee. Future plans include a new flower bed on the northbound platform, various heritage signs in and around the station and benches in keeping with the theme of the station. The Group have managed to balance their full time occupations alongside the voluntary work required, this is a testament to their passion and commitment for the rail industry and passengers that use it.
