Green Road

Located on the edge of the Duddon Estuary and overlooked by the Lakeland fells, this rural  station is 5 km/3 miles from Millom.

Close to Green Road station and accessible by a footpath is Arnaby Moss, which is part of the Duddon Special Area of Conservation.  This is a quiet spot that is ideal for people wanting to enjoy tranquility, wildlife and walking.  Nature lovers may be treated to a sighting of Pintail, Redknot and Common Redshank as well as the more common garden birds that feed at the station.

The latest section of the 2,700 mile England Coast Path National Trail was  opened 9 February 2022 by Natural England, taking in parts of the Lake District National Park and Duddon Estuary. The new path stretches 11 miles, beginning in Silecroft and finishing at Green Road Railway Station on the western side of the estuary.

There are also fine views across the Duddon Estuary, when looking south, and up into the hills and mountains when looking east and north.
